Belron® is exceptional in having its own dedicated research and development centre, Belron® Technical. This is a team of innovators and thinkers – all focused on driving technical standards and developing innovations that break new ground in vehicle glass repair and replacement.
The team at Belron® Technical is responsible for:
- Identifying and implementing best practice techniques for vehicle glass repair and replacement.
- Developing innovative tools to ensure quality and safety
- Carrying out research into the science behind vehicle glass damage.
Identifying and implementing best practice techniques for vehicle glass repair and replacement
Belron® Technical is responsible for the development of what is known as ‘the Belron® Way of Fitting’. This captures the expertise and know-how of Belron® technicians around the world and defines a best practice approach to repairing and replacing vehicle glass.
The Best of Belron® competition plays a crucial part in reinforcing this best practice approach. The techniques and standards used within the Belron® way of Fitting form the basis against which all competitors at the Best of Belron® are judged and the way in which all technicians across the business are trained.
Developing innovative tools to ensure quality and safety
During the competition guests will notice that every competitor is equipped with an identical tool kit. Many of the tools used have been developed by the Belron® Technical team. Belron® Technical incorporates best practice from Belron® businesses to give all technicians access to the same high quality tools so that they can provide a consistent world calss result every time. In terms of safety, many of the tools have been designed specifically to protect technicians from the hazards involved when working on damaged glass.
Research into the science behind vehicle glass damage
Glass is increasing in complexity, becoming more of an integral part of a vehicle’s structure,safety and design, and is often used as a specific selling point for new vehicles. Belron® recognises the importance of staying at the forefront of these developments and has a team which closely monitors the evolution of glass.
This team focuses on the science of damaged vehicle glass and works with industry experts across the world, carrying out in depth research into the factors which cause this damage. This work ultimately ensures that Belron® technicians have the most up-to-date knowledge,as well as the best tools to carry out their work.
